What We're Looking For
"And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, 'If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel’s will save it.'" Mark 8:34-35 (ESV)
DiscipleMakers is looking for the kind of laborers Jesus Himself sought. According to Jesus, a laborer for His kingdom must give up everything, he must hold to His teaching, he must love other Christians, and he will bear much fruit. This may be an unbelievably high standard, but Jesus has called us to pray and work for this end.
Like Jesus, DiscipleMakers is not looking primarily for people with special skills, although we praise God for the gifts He gives to His people. However, skills can be taught and learned, so our primary focus in seeking laborers is twofold:
- A teachable spirit, ready to confess sin, turn from it, and run to Christ.
- A commitment to our Vision and Core Values, evidenced by living them out in all of life.
