Apply to be a Missionary
"'Come, follow me,' Jesus said, 'and I will make you fishers of men.' At once they left their nets and followed him." Matthew 4:19-20 (ESV)
Is the Lord calling you to be a fisher of college students? The application process is an opportunity for you to become better acquainted with DiscipleMakers and discern if this is where God is leading you. It also gives us a chance to know you better and determine if your skills and passions are a good fit for DiscipleMakers.
Interested in applying or want
more information? Here are the next steps:
Before Applying
- Check out the other sections of Join Us, specifically, What We're Looking For in DiscipleMakers missionaries.
- DiscipleMakers accepts couples (married or engaged) as a team. We want both husband and wife to have a passion for making disciples of college students. Both must apply to become DiscipleMakers missionaries; we do not accept applications from only one spouse/fiance. If you have any questions about this, please don't hesitate to call 814-234-7975 or email HR@dm.org.
Application Process
- Preliminary Interest Form: The first step in the application process is to complete the Preliminary Interest Form. Doing so simply indicates your interest in learning more about DiscipleMakers and gives us an opportunity to get to know you better. At this point, you will be given an "Application Mentor" who will answer your questions and guide you through the process.
- Missionary Application: After talking with your Application Mentor, the next step is to complete the online Missionary Application. As part of the application, you will be asked to obtain the following types of references: personal, professional, and ministry. You should give these forms, along with a stamped envelope pre-addressed to DiscipleMakers, to those you are asking to provide references for you.
- Interviews: When your online application is completed and
references
received, we will contact you to set up interviews with several of our Staff. After your interviews are complete and a decision has been
made regarding your acceptance, we will quickly notify
you of the decision.
Accepted as a Missionary
- If you accept our offer to be a DiscipleMakers missionary, you will receive
further information on the next steps and be assigned a support raising
mentor.
- In DiscipleMakers you are accepted first as a "missionary" and second as an "employee." Only DiscipleMakers missionaries are eligible to become DiscipleMakers employees. You do not need to become an employee in order to minister with DiscipleMakers. However, if you would like to minister as a paid missionary, you will need to become an employee.
