Focus 2022 - Weeks 1 & 2

After 3 long years away, we are ready and eager to welcome you back to Focus 2022!

Join us for a week of intensive study in the Scriptures, immersion in warm community, all in the beautiful setting of Doubling Gap camp! Our theme this year - "Witnesses: Saved, Scattered, Sent" - will be drawn out in our large group sessions as we teach through 1 Peter. Our special guest speaker on Wednesday at Focus, Elliot Clark, asked these penetrating questions in his book Evangelism as Exiles:

How exactly do you preach the gospel when both you and your message are unwelcome?
How do you witness when you have neither a place or position?
How do you practice evangelism as a stranger and outcast?

It is to those questions (and more) that we will turn our attention at Focus. Join us! We can't wait to see you at Doubling Gap!

Week 1: May 8–13

East Stroudsburg University, Gettysburg College, Penn State University (all campuses), Shippensburg University

Week 2: May 15–20

Albright College, Alvernia University, Bloomsburg University, Bucknell University, Cedar Crest College, DeSales University, Elizabethtown College, Kutztown University, Lafayette College, Lebanon Valley College, Muhlenberg College, Wilkes University, York College

If you don’t see your school in Focus Week 1 or 2, it likely means your campus’ schedule doesn’t line up with either. Talk with your campus staff about your Fellowship’s plans for Focus.

Want more? Join us for the weekend between the 2 weeks (May 13-15) for Focus+!

Focus+: May 13–15

Our pain often collides with God’s promises—what we believe doesn’t always feel true. But the Lord does not expect us to rush past these experiences or just put on a happy face. Rather, he invites us to be open about our struggles. We wrestle with the Lord as he sustains us through the storm. This leads to deeper intimacy with God, faithful endurance in suffering, and greater compassion for others. Come learn how to seize rugged hope through honest worship.

If you would like to attend Focus+ please choose BOTH registration for the week you'll attend AND the option for Focus+. This will be an additional cost.

 WHAT TO BRING

Recreational items such as frisbees, board games, etc.

Bedding (twin bed sheets, or sleeping bag), a pillow, and a towel.

Location

Focus is held at the Doubling Gap Center, a Christian camp and conference center located in the mountains outside of Carlisle, PA. The address to put in your GPS is:
1550 Doubling Gap Road
Newville, PA 17241

Doubling Gap provides a beautiful setting for outdoor activities during the week, but its remote location means that cell coverage is mixed. (Verizon works well; other carriers do not.)

ARRIVING AT THE CONFERENCE

Please plan to arrive at Doubling Gap between 4:00pm and 5:00pm for registration and unpacking. Registration will be located just inside the main entrance of the gym. Please check in and pick up your conference materials, which will inform you of your room assignment and other important information. It is expected that you will participate in the entire conference (Sunday afternoon through Friday lunch), and we know you will be glad you did!
