Our Story

What a student learns in college will leave an indelible impression on his life, either for good or for bad. It was there that I learned through the Scriptures that Christ's Great Commission to "Go and make disciples of all nations..." was directed to me. It was compelling! My feeble attempts to share the gospel with others and to live up to Christ's standard were no detriment to the grace and power of God. In spite of my failures, students that I ministered to went on to have an impact for Christ in the US and around the world. Amazing! If we could reach the campus, then we could reach the world for Christ! This was something I wanted to give my life to.

God kept closing the doors as I tried to join an established collegiate ministry. But in 1981, while ministering to students at Penn State, He opened the door to incorporate DiscipleMakers. I never dreamed it would become anything other than the personal ministry God gave me. For ten years, the students themselves had no idea they were part of an organization!

I wondered what the Lord was doing as He began sending other like-minded men to labor with me. So I did some research. Most colleges in the US have no full-time missionary, particularly the smaller ones. The need for Scripturally-based, Christ-centered collegiate ministries was enormous. It was then that I understood why God was calling DiscipleMakers into existence. We are "Reaching the campus...Reaching the world!"
