Jesus: The Focus Of All Scripture
A story about students at DiscipleMakers May Camp 2008 learning about Scripture.
“And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself” Luke 24:27

Is it possible that a book as large as the Bible could be primarily about one person? Jesus himself explained to the two men on the way to Emmaus that from the beginning, the Scriptures have referred to him. In light of Jesus' words, DiscipleMakers Staff spent a week instructing college students on the transcendence of the person of Jesus Christ throughout the Bible. This past May, roughly 100 college students traveled to Newville, Pennsylvania for a week of DiscipleMakers Camp. Throughout the week, the students spent a large part of the day being instructed in the Word, enjoying fellowship with one another, and thinking of ways to more strategically build God's kingdom on their respective campuses. Each day began with teaching from the book of Genesis and would close with an exposition from the book of Revelation. These teachings particularly emphasized the preeminence of the gospel of Jesus Christ in all of Scripture.
One student, Jen from Penn State, noted: “I really enjoyed going through Genesis and Revelation and seeing how the whole Bible points to Jesus. I was in awe to see how Jesus was the perfection of the Old Testament guys like Adam and Noah, and it really helped me to see that the God of the Old Testament is the same loving, compassionate God of the New Testament.” Jen also said that she was struck by the fact that the Bible presents Jesus not just as a tender shepherd, but as an all-powerful King!
Additionally, Jen stated that seeing Jesus in this way has prepared her for the upcoming school year by helping her to put more trust in Jesus as the all-powerful Savior. This mind set has instilled an excitement in Jen, and other students alike, to preach the gospel even more! Praise the Lord that through this week of camp, He has allowed DiscipleMakers Staff to enlighten, enable, and empower college students with the hope of the gospel that just keeps on spreading!
