Board of Directors
What do Board Members do?
DiscipleMakers Board members do not just fill a position; rather they play a critical role in our ministry to college students. They do this by:
- Casting vision for the ministry to alumni, potential donors, and others in their circle of influence.
- Maintaining a network of DiscipleMakers alumni, helping these young men and women make the transition to the working world and to make disciples wherever the Lord has them after college.
- Overseeing the President and vision of DiscipleMakers.
- Helping to provide financial accountability for the organization.
Meet Our Board
The DiscipleMakers Board of Directors plays a crucial role in advancing mission of DiscipleMakers. Here are the current members and why they are passionate about serving on the Board:
Bill Dripps |
Bill Dripps, President - In 1981 my wife, Bonnie, and I had a thriving ministry with students at Penn State and there were people who wanted to support us financially. We wanted these donations to be tax deductible, so we incorporated DiscipleMakers as a tax-exempt, charitable organization. I hoped and prayed God would use us, but I didn't plan to start a new ministry. Among many people we were the ministry with no name, but the Lord gave us an influence out of proportion to our size. Today, we still often feel we lack the resources and the knowledge we need, but God continues to provide. The greatest lesson He continues to teach me is the sufficiency of His grace. When you take all I am and have, and you add everyone with DiscipleMakers and all they have, it's just a few small loaves and fish. We put them on the altar knowing they are hopelessly inadequate. That's when He steps in and accomplishes His great work.

Bob Kuligowski, Chairman - I grew up going to church but didn’t start following Christ with a passion until the spring of 1989 during my freshman year at Penn State. Bill Dripps and several other men took me under their wing and showed me the importance of studying and living God’s Word and of sharing it with others. After more than a decade of undergraduate study, full-time work, and graduate study in State College, I moved to Washington, DC and have been passing on what DiscipleMakers has taught me through discipling men at my church and holding an outreach Bible study for my co-workers. Even though my time at Penn State is long over, the example of the DiscipleMakers Staff continues to impact me, and I consider it a privilege to serve alongside them as Board chair.

Jason Goelitz |
Jason Goelitz, Treasurer - I graduated from Bucknell University in 2004 and am currently a software developer for a small company in DC. I go to McLean Presbyterian Church where I lead a men’s Home Fellowship Group and am on the Leadership Team for the church’s 20s/early 30s ministry. I love to read, play strategy games, do various geeky computer things, and enjoy good wine. God used DiscipleMakers to completely transform my life while I was at Bucknell, not only teaching me how to study the Bible and what it meant to truly follow Christ, but also giving me a vision for the transformation of other people’s lives…in short, building in me a passion to “go and make disciples of all nations.” And I see no better way to do that than through ministering to college students. I had the privilege of joining DiscipleMakers’ Board of Directors in October of 2006, and it has been a blast to be able to be part of the work that God is doing in people’s lives through DM! |
Yonghyun (John) Kim, Secretary - I am married to Vielyana, the most beautiful and wonderful woman in the world, and we are very blessed to have a newborn son Calvin. I was born in Korea, lived in the Philippines for ten years until high school, and have lived in the US since my freshman year in college. I am now pursuing a doctorate degree in biochemical engineering at University of Maryland Baltimore County. While I was at Lafayette College as an undergraduate student, I benefited tremendously from the ministry of DiscipleMakers, especially from its emphasis on discipleship and its clear presentation of the Gospel. What makes me excited about being on the Board is that I get to participate in DiscipleMakers' great vision to disciple the world by discipling college students. I also love being on the Board because it is not merely a position to conduct business, but a venue through which I can be discipled as well. As I serve, I hope to be a source of encouragement to the President and all the Staff, especially in reminding them that their efforts for the sake of Christ’s kingdom are never in vain. It surely is my great privilege and sheer joy to serve on the Board! |

Alan Prothe |
Alan Prothe - I am grateful to have the opportunity to be on the Board with DiscipleMakers. As I have participated in Board meetings, attended the student conference in the Fall, and some of the Staff conference in the Summer, I have a sense that God is doing something special with DiscipleMakers. My hope is that the Lord will enable me to be a help to DiscipleMakers because I can be something of a spokesman for the ministry knowing the college years are often very influential in people’s lives. This is not only true in my own life, but also in my wife’s life as well. (My wife went to Bucknell University and was part of the DiscipleMakers group on campus.) One of the ways involvement in campus ministry can be exciting to me is the way the students who are being discipled have their lives ahead of them and can go on to make an impact in the church or perhaps return to the many countries where university students come from as gospel messengers and disciple makers themselves. |
