Jeff & Amber's Testimonies
Jeff and Amber both grew up in the Philadelphia area. Jeff grew
up going to church, and went to school at The Christian Academy.
He became a Christian at a very young age by praying on the steps with
his parents in their home. It was not until college though that
his faith was really tested when he enrolled at a public university,
West Chester University. It was here that he take a hold of his
own faith and not just followed his parents lead, but truly began to
live out his faith. He was involved with several of the campus
ministries and by his senior year he was the president of one of the
Christian fellowships on campus along with helping with youth group at
his church. Upon graduation with his degree in music education
Jeff did not know what to do other then look for a job in his
field. Later that summer after much searching he landed a job at
his old school. That fall Jeff and Amber met at a training
conference held at Jeff's church.
Amber grew up going to church and public school. She became a Christian in 1991 at Creation after hearing an alter call she could feel God pulling on her heart to submit. Her time through high school was rough since her parents did not understand the choice she made, but her youth leaders took her under their wings and mentored her through that time. After graduation she went to Bloomsburg University, which she choose because of the Christian fellowship, outdoor program and sign language. During her first years she was highly involved with the fledgling DiscipleMakers group on campus. But in her junior year took a turn for the worse and decided she wanted nothing to do with God and turned to everything else. During that time the girl who had been mentoring her continued to reach out to hear and pray for her. Coming into her senior year she could feel God pullin her back to Him. In the spring she finally let go and started turning back from the sinful lifestyle she had choosen. SHe once again got involved with the DiscipleMakers ministry. That fall her last semester she went and did her internship in Arizona it was her that God gave her the heart to serve Him as a missionary of some sort. She traveled all over doing verious jobs until she ended up in West Chester. Were she found her first church home that led her to the conference where she met Jeff.
Jeff and Amber dated for about 5 months and then were engaged. During their engagement they both went on missions trips with Missions to the World. They always talked about possible becoming full time ministry workers in some way. Whether to stay at The Christian Academy and put their all in their or if the Lord was calling them some place else. After their Feb 03' wedding there was a major snow storm. Leaving them at home with much to think about. They started researching various organizations, one of them being DiscipleMakers. After much prayer and talking to some of the groups the Lord laid it on their hearts to apply to DiscipleMakers. They were accepted in Nov of 03' and started part time support raising in June of 04' they went to full time support raising and were expecting their first child. Emalyne was born in Jan of 05' and in July of 05' they moved to State College from the Philly area. In Aug of 05' they were finished with full time support raising and started their internship at Penn State University.
