Matt & Karlyn's Testimonies

Karlyn and I (Matt) have many wonderful stories we could share of the gracious blessings God has showered on us! We both came to know the Lord early in life, and though our circumstances differed growing up, we both drew much closer to the Lord when we attended college.

Karlyn went to Bucknell University where she became involved with the DiscipleMakers ministry and developed a love for discipling younger women. Karlyn loves to tell how though she was headed toward medicine and wanted to help people in their ailments, she realized what she really wanted to do was help their souls find Jesus. Karlyn worked with DiscipleMakers at Penn State (where she met me!) for 4 years after she graduated.

I went to Penn State and became involved in the Navigators ministry, through which I met Ben Hagerup. Ben began to fan the flame God had put in me and helped me realize that serving my King meant I needed to do it in every area of life. I joined a Bible study with Bill Dripps where God gave me a passion for His word and a desire to share it with others.

Karlyn and I married in March of 2000, and we spent the next 3 1/2 years in Virginia where I worked as an engineer for a construction company. Though I enjoyed what I did, God was pulling my heart to share his word full time. The Lord led Karlyn and I to join staff with DiscipleMakers as we so admire their vision and passion for teaching God's word to college students. We are excited to work with people who desire to share the wonderful news of Jesus!
