Men's Conference 2010
Info
"But the LORD is with me as a dread warrior..." Jeremiah 20:11a
Every man loves a hero. Every man knows that the world needs a hero. Every man dreams of being a hero.
Some men give their lives to become heroes. Only one hero gave His life.... so that men like us could become heroes.
The DiscipleMakers Men's Conference starts Friday, March 26 @ 6:30pm, and goes until Sunday, March 28 @ 1pm. The conference is held at Camp Joy El retreat center in Greencastle, PA.
Theme
"But the LORD is with me as a dread warrior..." Jeremiah 20:11a
Biblical Manhood: The Savior's Call to Saving Others
Men yearn to be heroes, savior-warriors fighting for and protecting
what is right and good regardless of personal cost. Christ, the
ultimate savior-warrior, fought on our behalf and sacrificed Himself to
defeat sin and death. Created in His image, we too have the mission to
be men who sacrifice for the glory of God, protecting His people,
opposing injustice, and winning lost souls.Workshops
Three workshops will be given during Men's Conference 2010. The workshops are designed to be very interactive and allow students to dive into applications for themselves. Students will choose two to attend:Workshop 1 - The Call of the Kingdom: The Savior in Evangelism and Missions
Men are called to be Savior-Warriors. What does this look like in the context of missions and the kingdom of Christ? Join us as we see how God has called us to lay down our lives and "save" others by proclaiming the Gospel to them. We will talk through the practicals of outreach and speak truthfully about what it will cost to tell the world about Christ. Regardless of who you are or where you go after college, you are called to be a missionary by bringing the gospel to others.Workshop 2 - Warrior Saints: Cultivating Christ-Like Compassion
Men are called to be Savior-Warriors. What does this look in the context of a hurting and broken world? Most of the time we protect ourselves by remaining in comfortable relationships and avoid relationships that cost us something. Join us as we see how God has called us to incarnate Christ to those who are suffering. We do not have compassion for the sake of compassion; rather, because God has had compassion on us we have compassion that engages hearts with the gospel so that lives are transformed. A true compassionate Savior Warrior is a builder, not a destroyer, who seeks to liberate, heal, and restore by being a wise and determined redeemer. Please note that there is a precourse assignment for this workshop.
Workshop 3 - The Savior in Discipleship: Imaging the Savior in Training Saviors
Men are called to be Savior-Warriors. What does this look like in the context of training our fellow brothers? Join us as we consider the challenge to lead by example and call our brothers to do what they are fearful or unwilling to do, especially in fighting sin and making disciples. We'll focus on hands-on aspects of training younger men through speaking truth in love, encouraging, helping to point to Christ as our ultimate satisfaction, and destroying idols.Schedule
