Theme
“Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities....” Isaiah 53:4-5
Focus on the Cross: The Suffering Servant
“Behold I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me” (Psalm 51:5). Sin plagues us. Our problem has been with us from birth and we perpetuate it every day. We are fallen people who live in slavery to sin, stained, guilty, separated and defeated. And nothing we can do seems to fix it—not our self-help schemes, not our positive thinking, not our pious religious acts.
We have a tremendous burden. A burden we can't possibly carry. But God in his mercy isn't content to leave us there. He sent a Savior who carried that burden. “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way' and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all” (Isaiah 53:6).
Focus 2010, Focus on the Cross: The Suffering Servant is an exploration of what God has done for us by sending Jesus to the Cross instead of us. During our morning sessions we will examine what Jesus has accomplished for us that we could never do. In the evening we'll consider what Jesus calls us to in light of the Cross.

Tracks
Tracks
Track I: Communing with GodHave you ever wondered what it means to really have a relationship with God? In this first Track we'll examine how the Good News that Jesus has died in our place moves us to develop a thriving relationship with God. Each of the three days we have Track time we'll examine a different means of communing, or relating, with God Himself! Through the Scriptures we'll develop a Biblical perspective on how we relate with God through reading, studying, and understanding His Word, talking with Him through prayer, and in worship with other believers.
Track II: Leading Others in Reflecting on the CrossPaul says, "what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also." God has entrusted the truth of Jesus to us and he has called us to pass it on. The Gospel isn't just a personal thing. While it moves us each individually to be molded into the image of Christ it also comes with the staggering call to cultivate the same desire in others. In Track II we'll explore what a follower, or disciple, of Christ is, how we become one, how we make disciples of Christ, and how we can train them to be disciple-makers for Christ.
